Friends of Rose Park has installed 3 museum-quality photographic panels reflecting the history of Margaret Peters and Roumania Peters Walker, African-American sisters who grew up in the 2700 block of O Street, NW and who dominated the tennis world in the 1940s and 1950s. They are located on the porch of the Recreation Center – please stop by for a quick history lesson! Thank you to Fannie Walker Weekes and James Walker, the daughter and son of Roumania Walker Weekes, for giving us permission to use their family photos in this way. And thank you to FRP Board Member Dane Towell for her layout design and to neighbor and friend, Ricardo Jimenez, for his installation skills.
